DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Mati Airport in Davao Oriental is set for a major rehabilitation project this year, officials said.
Mayor Michelle Rabat said Friday that the project will boost the local economy and tourism.
Article continues after this advertisement“The upgraded airport will provide a seamless travel experience and position Mati City as a gateway to economic growth and tourism in Mindanao,” she said in an interview.

The new Mati Airport terminal will feature a modern design inspired by local culture.

Mati Airport, originally known as Imelda R. Marcos Airport, was constructed in 1976.

Once operational, it is expected to serve as a vital transportation hub.
